nikodemus thought that with popping and i reckon bboying as well..its really easy to hide behind it and not actualli "dance"
house (also like locking i think) is soemthing very PURE!~~~
and also very hard~ i havnt taken classes yet but im learnin from a bboy...who has the best power in australia imo he is only 16/17 ..
and an awesome dancer that can do new jack as well~
sooo yehh house O_O VERY HARD lol..im working on that groove atm
its not natural for me it feels like im doing a retarded bodywave
Yeah thats what I dig about house too, it just looks so free and loose but super funky at the same time (if you do it right). Seems like more of a "feeling"dance than a thinking one.

i took a house class i felt the same way but once u start to feel the moves the groove part kinda takes over but at first it just feels strange lol

how can u hide behind a dance?
i dont get it.
all styles have their foundation which eventually leads to variation. House may look really free to most ppl but theres hella foundation going its just hard to see if the dancer is well versed and the eye isnt trained.
one thing is true, as cliche as it sounds, house is very much a feeling, and the music moves you as opposed to you moving to the music. thats why i love it so much, its deep, soulful and agressive and powerful all at the same time.

I THINK HE MEANS THAT..TAKE POPPIN 4 EXAMPLE....IF YOU DO AN ILL MOVE,LIKE WAVE,OR FLOAT...IT'S LOOKS GOOD,BUT THAT'S NOT THE *DANCE* ASPECT...JUST THE MOVEMENT....WHEREAS WITH HOUSE,YOU CAN'T GET AWAY WITH JUST MOVEMENTS..BCUZ IT'S NOT BASED ON ILLUSION,LIKE POPPIN,OR GYMNASTIC LIKE MOVEMENTS,LIKE BBOYING...IT'S BASED IN THE FEELING,OR *GROOVE* OF THE MUSIC....ALEAST I THINK THAT'S WHAT HE MEANT!WTF DO I KNOW???LOL....PEACE

well i think within every dance its very easy to fall into the "kill it" mode and completely forget the most important thing, the dancing!!
it just takes a person a while to realize, that just because you are on beat doesn't mean you are dancing!!
theres more to real "dancing" then trying beat match what you are doing to the music.

Good 4U! =)
Just try to relax and lat your body dance. don't control your body.
Your problem to be dissolved in music, leaning for muscular memory instead of to show excellent technics. I so think. Simply feel.
Sorry for my Eng.

Word. I've heard Suga Pop say almost the exact same thing, but specifically about Locking... But I agree: it goes for house dancing too...

I noticed also in house when your learning moves that require you to spin or turn 90 or so degrees its always off the heal... were as in poppin you tend to turn or spin off the toe or control using the toe in twisto variations and such..
just somethin i found a complete mind bend at the start lol

thats not necessarily true. i've seen plenty of people spin off their heel, or ball of their feet...

yeah i rarely spin on my heel, sometimes i do it without really planning it cause thats the way my weight transfers at the time.
both ways work just as well tho ive noticed. although its easier to loose balance i think if ur on your heels.

oh for real? maybe its just the teacher i had.. i feel better now that i may not have to change habits lol

don't necessarily have to change the habit, but also learn what you aren't able to do
that way you gain some real control, and be more versatile.

most dances, including house are very free in nature...it only became structured///foundational once people start teaching what is done in the club...IMO.
