What's house dancing?

I've seen what it but i don't quite understand it.

What's House music? anyone care to enlighten me?

i will give my own interpretation of what is house dance (base on research/experience), but i will do it after the brian green interview.

Im not an expert...
but what i learnt from Juste Debout 07 in France (massive out there!) is the basis of house is Jacking,

its sort of like dropping the knees and waving it upwards, i
ts really hard to explain better to see for yourself with some videos,

try the early juste debout compo's the have a massive house dance compo and the standards are just off the hi-zie!

chewy has it basically right, jackin is easily argued the original style danced to house however there is a new style, more funky and slowed depending on the person, Ummm kinda hard to explain because people have differen't styles, if you ever get to watch Karina whos a sick dancer from the bay, shes a prime example and you can see the difference between old and new.

Kinda but not really..haha . Everyone has a different interpertation of a style yes but to be a style of dance, it has to have foundation that can be taught and passed on. Im not talking about someones own individual flow this is not considered a "dance style" but people like to say they have their own style, like your own style of dress etc, but to be a style of dance thats something different.
Ballet is a style, foundation includes the different turn outs, positions, and forms such as pleas, pa da bourees(dont know if i spelled that right) and other movement make it ballet. Tap is a style, shuffles ball changes etc make it tap. Jacking is more a vibe then a distinct style, I mean "2004" and "paronoid" are different styles of jacking that were being created by Tony Mcgregor, Sha which way, and Brian (from my understanding) and only a few young cats can do it like Michel, Hideki, Shuho. Jacking is simply the body undulation movement that started in chicago with all the warehouse heads dancing to the first sounds of house music.
Even Karina studies the styles, shes gotten alot more jacking in the last few years. Next time you see her you can ask her about it. She has even incorporated other dances such as belly dancing into her movements this is dope. That is my girl and I love her to death. The Bays a small place and were all friends of course. ( haha i wonder how she would feel to know were talking about her right now haha your famous girl!!!)

But to say any of the new kids in the scene has created a new style of house is not really true. We must practice and understand and break down our own movements on a more technical level to create a style. We must learn musicality on a higher level . We must learn a great deal but it took ballet 100 years to develop in the court yard of the kings before it was a style. House has only been around for 30 something years. We have time but we must study and be real about our own level in this dance.
MOST OF US IN THE WORLD HAVE NOT REACHED THIS LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is humbling to keep it real in this aspect and disrespectful not too.
No disrespect to no one but you cant pretend to understand a style, or disregard it as easy unless you can do it PERIOD.
So I say to all house heads, study the existing styles and have your own personal interperation's of movement. Go get open and get down. This will help you grow and develop, so hopefully the next generation will surpass the old, this will happen if we stay humble and learn as much as we can instead of disregarding the teachings of the old and just come out saying something like "well we dance our own style that other stuff is old school this right here is new school" cause that just means you haven't even gone to school yet to know what your talking about =). In any martial art this type of attitude is unheard of. If you want to be Bruce Lee and challenge the systems you must first be like Bruce Lee and learn the systems ( and be a super duper bad ass with G skillz ). Class is in homies lets study and graduate.

Try to find your own style in dance. house is a feeling, here not 'Right thinks' Use jacking, footwork, relax, let your hands free and then you can use some experence from funk styles or from b-boing, many ppl use glides, work on floor, waves, some movement styles....
Just creat your own style. Just feel. You need to be dissolved in music, I think. This is House.

in hip-hop accent goes downward, in house upward, it's a diffirent styles by directions. if you say about loftig in hip-hop, that is true, it's a base.

you can do house with accents of hip-hop, or use some break-dance and funk experience, btw i can't understent, what you mean about *re-descovered jack aspect* for me jack is always in house, from starting it caling from Jacking to House to our days and I think it be always as a base.

SORRY BRUH,BUT LOFTING CAME BEFORE JACKING,AND BACK IN THE EARLY DAYS OF HOUSE,JACKING(USED AS THE *STOMP*) WAS JUST A STEP!NOT THE BASIS OF THE DANCE.....WHOEVER TAUGHT YOU ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE ACCENTS OF HIPHOP,& HOUSE,PROBABLY LEARNED IT FROM ME!MORE THAN 1/2 THE STEPS IN HOUSE ARE FROM HIPHOP,AND IF YOU SEE FOOTAGE OLDER THAN 1998,YOU'LL SEE FEW PEOPLE "JACKING" WHEN THEY DANCED HOUSE! Thanks B Stretch for put in that info out I just didn't want to seem like A voice crying in tha wilderness, I'm from that city(CHI-CITY),that era,know most of DJ's like Farley "Jack Master Funk" grew up next door to me heard him & Steve"Silk"Hurley(of JM Silk with my boy Kieth Nunley who sang "Music is the Key","Jack Your Body","DumDums"etc.) & other members of WBMX Hot Mix5 making mixes & music ,me my self Danced & choreographed moves for A House music artist Named "Romance" at An event in which Frankie Knuckles,Adonis,Darryl Pandy& Farley.Chip E & Kevin Erving (who later joined Club Neuvo)held performances by DJ Internanational recording artist in Jan.1986 it was held at oldschool club called CLUB LAND , Oh yeah it's yah boy who put you up on tha "Remember the Time" info in which you gave correction to that situation on youtube .......Holla!
